TIM MCMASTER is a bass player and singer living in Austin,Texas. He has toured the globe making music, and his playing and singing can be heard on any given day on satellite or terrestrial radio, and can be seen live at a venue near you.
He's been at it 35 years and counting, with no signs of letting up.
TIM's first tour of duty took place in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia, in the heady days of the early 80's. After knocking around the local scene, he hooked up with Chris Day, guitar slinger extraordinaire recently exiled from Philly stalwarts and Columbia recording artists Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumblers. Tim and Chris enjoyed a long successful ride that continues to this day. Tim also played with Scott and Brian Bricklin, from the band Bricklin, on A&M records, and many other Philly artists on the scene.
Then, as the 90's wound down, he joined forces with americana artist and New Jersey native Tom Gillam, and after a ten year stint with Tom, which saw much local success and national and world touring, as well as recording 7 highly acclaimed albums, highlighted by the 2005 nomination for best new act on the americana scene, and hitting #4 on the americana charts for the album "shake my hand", the band decided it was time for a change of venue.
That venue turned out to be the live music capitol of the world, Austin,Texas. The band quickly entrenched itself in the local scene, joining forces with the best players in town, and tirelessly toured the great lonestar state, garnering much airplay along the way.Tim quickly took advantage of the caliber of artists and bands in Austin and has managed to play with over 100 acts in his 8 years on the scene, including Austin legends JonDee Graham and Will Sexton. Will, whose brother Charlie plays with Bob Dylan, secured his first recording contract at the ripe age of 17 on MCA records, and has written or performed with the likes of Steven Stills, Steve Earle, Waylon Jennings, Roky Erickson, Johnny Thunders, and Johnette Napolitano. The Will Sexton band boasts the finest players in town, performing for adoring Austin crowds whenever their busy schedules allow.
Recently, Tim was back on the Americana charts with Mandy Rowden whose new album, "1000 Miles", was helmed by Joe Carroll, Tim's compadre and bandmate from Jersey who first moved to Austin in the later Tom Gillam band days and was behind the mixing desk for all of the group's discs through "Had Enough".
Venture into the Saxon Pub or The Continental Club on any given night, or any of Austin's other music rooms, and you're bound to come across Tim McMaster holding down the bass guitar duties and singing back-up to a favorite local singer songwriter or rock n roller!
